Our U16 Elite League team returned to winning form, defeating FC Bacău 2–0 at home thanks to a brace from Klein Tizián. After the match, head coach Burus Bernát shared his thoughts.
– “It’s been a mentally tough and demanding week. The first half of the week was all about how we could pick ourselves up and find strength for the new challenges ahead, because the match against Sepsi was a huge slap in the face for us. You could say it was a tactically intense battle in which we were much more dominant and controlled the game. From set pieces we were constantly dangerous, we even hit the crossbar from distance, but we lacked the essence — the goal,” said the head coach.
– “We started the second half with the same enthusiasm and energy, and in the 55th minute it paid off. We managed to take the lead after what you could call a beautiful individual move — Fülöp pulled the ball back nicely for Klein, arriving on the second wave, who calmly placed it inside the near post. After that, the opponents had to open up more, but our defense stood strong, and when we had to suffer, we did it together, fighting with great heart all the way to keep the three points at home,” detailed Burus Bernát.
– “The story of the match ended after a deserved penalty, and this age group reached another turning point in their development — they beat the team that had been considered a ‘bogey team’ since the U14 level. Huge credit to the boys, they showed how mentally strong they are and how big their hearts are — sometimes these matter more than any tactical instruction. This match was won by the team with the bigger heart and the team spirit that helps you push each other through the toughest moments. Well done, boys!” concluded Burus Bernát.
