Our U17 Elite League team managed to pull one back through a goal by Máthé Apor, but in the end fell 2–1 away at UTA Arad. After the match, head coach Mitra Szilárd shared his thoughts.
The coach explained that UTA are a very strong side, something they were well aware of, having prepared thoroughly by analysing two of their home matches. – “From the very beginning we tried to play football, we had more of the ball, but despite that, in the first fifteen minutes we conceded twice from individual mistakes,” said Mitra Szilárd.
He pointed out as a positive that, despite going behind early, the team did not give up and continued to play proactively. In the first half they created two or three promising chances, but individual errors disrupted the finishing.
– “In the second half we put even more pressure on the hosts and managed to score after a well-constructed move. There was still time to equalise, even to go on and win, but UTA defended well and it was difficult to create clear chances. We pressed them until the very last minutes, but unfortunately we couldn’t draw level,” the head coach underlined.
In conclusion, he added that these are the kinds of matches where both sides create few opportunities, and the difference is made by which team is able to take advantage of them.
