What seemed like a comfortable match turned into a tense ending for our U17 Elite League side on Tuesday morning, but fortunately the FK victory was secured in the end.
Mitra Szilárd’s boys hosted Viitorul Cluj on Tuesday morning at the Burus Csaba Sport Park in a midweek round. In the 16th minute, Máthé Apor opened the scoring with a header past Duna, and in the last minute of the first half Szolnoki Máté doubled our lead after a solo run. In the 54th minute, once again Máthé Apor broke free inside the box and from about 10 meters fired into the far corner, scoring his second and the team’s third goal.
After that, we tried to run down the clock, which gave the visitors some chances. In the 82nd minute, Vingan’s shot from 16 meters went in with the help of the post (3–1), and in the final minute of regular time Crișan took advantage of a gift ball and, again with the help of the post, found our net (3–2). The very last action took place in front of the Cluj goal, when Szolnoki and then Baior could not beat Duna, despite being one-on-one with the visiting goalkeeper.
It was a nervy finish, but the equalizer never came, and our U17 team deservedly collected all three points.
