Greetings to the reader
Futball Klub Csíkszereda is the first and also the oldest football club in Székelyland. It was founded by young enthusiasts in Miercurea Ciuc on June 19, 1904. The initiator was László Kőszeghy, a civil engineer specializing in bridges and roads. The main goal of the association, which was reorganized on July 24, 2012, at the initiative of the municipality of Miercurea Ciuc, is, just like its early 20th-century predecessors, to promote competition among young talents from Székelyland.
In addition to the adult team, the football club places great emphasis on youth education. The Székelyföld Football Academy, created by FK Csíkszereda in 2013, provides a framework for this. Our academy belongs to the narrow elite among sports organizations involved in youth education in Romania. Our age teams have been a dominant force in the Elite League, which brings together the best, for years. Among our numerous successes, the championship title won by our U19 team in 2021 stands out, as well as the great Székely march of 2022, where we won the championship title defense, the Romanian Cup, and the Super Cup.
In recognition of its activities in sports and education, the Romanian Government declared Fotbal Club Csíkszereda Egyesület of public use through its decree adopted on April 14, 2022 (HG 523/2022).
