The Burus Csaba Memorial Tournament will be held in Csíkszereda for the second time on Friday and Saturday. Six U16 boys’ teams will compete in the two-day event at the Burus Csaba Sports Park.
The Burus Csaba Memorial Tournament will be held in Csíkszereda for the second time on Friday and Saturday. Six U16 boys’ teams will compete in the two-day event at the Burus Csaba Sports Park.
Alongside hosts FK Csíkszereda, the strong field features the youth teams of the Puskás Ferenc Football Academy, CSA Steaua Bucharest, Budapest Honvéd FC, Sepsi OSK and TSC Bačka Topola. Budapest Honvéd won the inaugural tournament last year after defeating FK Csíkszereda in the final.
The participating teams have been divided into two groups of three. Group A comprises FK Csíkszereda, the Puskás Ferenc Football Academy and CSA Steaua Bucharest, while Budapest Honvéd FC, Sepsi OSK and TSC Bačka Topola make up Group B. Friday’s group-stage matches will be followed by the placement matches on Saturday.
Each match will consist of two 30-minute halves. Following every group-stage match, both teams will take three penalties, with the results used as a tiebreaker if necessary to determine the final group standings. If any of the placement matches are level at the end of regulation time, a penalty shoot-out with five kicks per team will follow.
In addition to the tournament winners, individual awards will be presented to the best goalkeeper, best player and top goalscorer. The players of the top three teams will receive medals, while every participating side will be awarded a certificate.
