Omar El Sawy (photo), a graduate of our academy, continues the 2025–2026 season with Rapid Bucharest, after spending last season on loan at Sepsi OSK. As is known, four rounds of the Romanian top flight have already been played, so Omar was present at Rapid's match in Miercurea Ciuc, although he didn’t feature on the pitch. However, he did speak at the club’s pre-match press conference, where he shared heartfelt reflections on his time at the Székely Land Football Academy:
“That period was an important part of my life. Many of those I worked with are still on the staff, and several of my former teammates are still there as well. When I arrived in Miercurea Ciuc, I wasn’t very disciplined and didn’t take football seriously enough. But I was surrounded by people who guided and helped me, who taught me the value of hard work and discipline. These are things you can’t learn just anywhere, and that’s why I’m extremely grateful to them,” said the former academy player, widely quoted in the Romanian press.
So far, Omar has played 14 minutes in the top division this season, appearing against FC Argeș.
Another former academy player, Nándor Tamás, is also part of this season’s squad at Komáromi FC, who successfully stayed up in the Slovak first division. After two rounds, Komárom have lost both matches: a 2–1 home defeat to Trenčín – with Nándor starting and playing until the 64th minute – and a 3–1 away loss to Michalovce – where he featured in the first half.
The Hungarian leagues have also kicked off, where several of our former players are active. Szabolcs Dusinszki, for example, returned from loan at Csákvár to Puskás Akadémia and has been included in the senior squad. In the first round, he came on as a substitute in the 60th minute against newly promoted Kazincbarcika, replacing Mikael Soisalo in a 2–1 win for Felcsút. He was also in the squad for the second round against Nyíregyháza (3–2), but did not play.
Roland Vajda, another Puskás Akadémia player, has been loaned from Kozármisleny to Videoton in Székesfehérvár, where he started in the opening round in a 0–3 home loss to Budapest Honvéd – he was substituted at halftime. In the second round, away against Ajka (1–1), he came on at halftime.
Alexandru Ureche, playing for BVSC-Zugló, featured in both of the NBII games so far this season, albeit only for a few minutes at the end of each match. His team beat Ajka 4–0 in the first round, then lost 2–0 away at Csákvár in the second.
