Szuperliga | Második forduló pozitív előjelekkel

After earning our first point in the Superliga already in the opening round, against a top team, we travel to Clinceni for our second match, against Unirea Slobozia.

The Muntenian team is an old acquaintance, since in the 2023–2024 season we battled them in Liga 2, managing to win 1–0 in Slobozia during the regular season, although later in the playoffs we lost to them twice – they secured promotion to the Superliga from first place, while we played the playoff against Dinamo. But those were not our last encounters: last season, they visited us already as a Superliga team, but we eliminated them from the cup with another 1–0 victory.

However, all of this means nothing now, as head coach Róbert Ilyés pointed out at the pre-match press conference: now we face a very organized team, with one more year of Superliga experience compared to us. “I’m glad we came out of our last match with a positive result, we analyzed our small issues, the players looked good this week, they were motivated. We also studied the opponent, I hope we’ll be motivated, and I trust that the players will have the right attitude and mentality to snatch points. This match has nothing to do with the past, it’s a completely different championship. We know they’re quite an uncomfortable team, their core remained similar to their Liga 2 squad, they are a small team, like us, they defend in an organized way. They played a good match in the first round in Cluj (they lost 2–1 to CFR – ed.), conceding the second goal only in the dying moments from a set piece – this shows how well-prepared they are,” the coach explained.

Our defender Dávid Kelemen said they’re really looking forward to seeing FK supporters at the match: “Last year too, they followed us everywhere, it’s an extra motivation for us. As the coach said, we’re going to Bucharest for points, and it would be great if they were behind us for the whole match. The atmosphere in the dressing room is good, because overall the result in the first round was positive for us, we prepared throughout the week, we’re trying to focus on this match, it’s an important game and we’ll try to bring home all three points.”

János Ferenczi, who joined us this summer, told us that he feels very good in Miercurea Ciuc, and both the team and the staff welcomed the new players. “I feel good, I’m also trying to discover what the city has to offer in my free time. We’re preparing for the first away match, and we want – I say it directly – to win and get the first victory. After the first match I saw in the fans’ eyes what that historic first point meant to them, and we want to repay that,” the midfielder said.

The match of the 2nd round of the Superliga regular season will kick off on Monday at 7 PM in Clinceni, near Bucharest, as the “1 May” stadium in Slobozia is still not approved for first division matches. Those who want to watch the game live can join the supporters’ bus, sign-ups are at László Tamás "Egér" at phone number 0743-314 314.
