Our U15 and U16 teams both secured two-goal victories against ASC Oțelul Galați in Galați this weekend in the Elite Cup. The head coaches evaluated the wins achieved under extremely difficult weather conditions.
Fogarasi Zoltán, head coach of our U15 team:
“The start of Saturday’s match was significantly delayed due to the weather conditions, namely heavy snowfall. Several scenarios were discussed before kick-off, but in the end we began the match with more than a two-hour delay. The players adapted very well to the circumstances, although I must add that we played on a completely unrealistic pitch. I was hoping we would get through the match without injuries, and thankfully that was the case. As for the game itself, we scored our goals at a good rhythm, played with absolute dominance, and fully deserved the victory. Besides finishing the match without injuries, we are also pleased to have completed this cup fixture, as from now on we must focus on the final match that will decide qualification.”
Burus Bernát, head coach of our U16 team:
“Completely unsuitable conditions for football awaited us in Galați. One hour before kick-off, the pitch looked more like an ice hockey rink than a football field. The start of the match was delayed by two and a half hours, meaning that after arriving at the stadium the boys had to wait nearly four hours before the referee blew the opening whistle. This game was about ambition, heart and the will to fight. The boys invested tremendous energy, especially considering the high stakes. We managed to dominate the match overall, created numerous chances and, given the pitch conditions, played good football. We have taken a big step toward qualification, but the job is not finished yet. We must approach the final home cup match with maximum seriousness and focus in order to secure a place in the quarter-finals. Congratulations to the boys — it was a huge effort!”
