We played away at CSM Alba Iulia in Round 9 of the Women’s Superleague, where we ended the match in a goalless draw. Although we dominated the first half and created several chances, we couldn’t find the back of the net.
The match began with a minute of silence in memory of the late Romanian football legend, Flavius Domide. After the kick-off, we quickly took control and kept the hosts under constant pressure, as they rarely crossed the halfway line. Most of our attacking plays came down Nombot Annabelle’s side, but the finishing touch was missing. Our best chance came just before halftime when Andrea Herczeg’s free kick hit the crossbar.
The hosts started the second half more confidently, creating two good chances, but our goalkeeper, Balog Boglárka, handled them well. We soon regained control of the game, but our attacking moves lacked creativity and precision. Herczeg tried several times but couldn’t beat the home goalkeeper, Sara Câmpean, who delivered a flawless performance.
The game ended 0–0, meaning we returned home with a valuable point, although our offensive play fell short of expectations.
After the match, our head coach, Szilvia Szeitl, expressed her frustration: – It’s hard to say everything is fine, because it isn’t. I don’t understand how we can play a great match and then follow it with a poor one. The attitude and aggressiveness we showed against Farul were completely missing today, even though the team worked very well in training – said our coach.
She also spoke about the missing players: – Réka Demeter was injured against Farul and will be out for about three weeks, while Jehona Shala had to attend her visa appointment and couldn’t join us. We missed both of them badly – she added.
Looking ahead, Szeitl was clear about her plans: – It looks like we need to make changes within the team, there’s no other solution. Unfortunately, we’ll have to part ways with two or three players – concluded our coach honestly.
