Női Szuperliga | Kétgólos győzelem az Unirea ellen

Without much drama, but with a somewhat stuttering performance, our Women’s Superliga team managed to keep all three points at home on Saturday against the side from Alba Iulia.

Head coach Szilvia Szeitl lined up her players in an interesting 3-5-2 formation against Unirea Alba Iulia on Saturday afternoon, which led to clear home dominance in midfield. In the first half, chances were not lacking: in the 8th minute, Vlădulescu broke through on the left side, reaching all the way into the box, but her close-range shot was saved by Câmpean.

In the 18th minute, following a right-side action by Fülöp Boglárka, the ball reached Herczeg Andrea at the edge of the penalty area, who cleverly and calmly slotted it low into the far corner: 1–0. Afterwards, we could note chances from Vlădulescu, Demeter, and Fülöp Boglárka, but these efforts were either saved by Câmpean or Demeter’s header flew just wide of the goal. In the 42nd minute, the visitors had the chance to equalize when Bistrian dribbled into position on the right side, but her placed shot was tipped away by Balog Boglárka. The last moment of the half then brought another goal: Herczeg Andrea’s smart pass found Fülöp Boglárka on the right, our forward dribbled into the box and finished from close range past Câmpean.

The halftime score eventually proved sufficient, as the two-goal lead lasted until the end of the match, with few dangerous chances being created. We could have increased the margin if, for example, the referee had awarded the penalty for the foul on Nombot Annabelle, who came on after the break, but the whistle remained silent. Annabelle then became involved in a less fortunate incident as well, requiring the help of the medics toward the end of the match.

After the final whistle, head coach Szilvia Szeitl emphasized that the most important thing was keeping the three points at home:
“The fact that we managed to keep the three points here is the most important right now. The way we did it is secondary at the moment, as is the fact that our player, who was taken away by ambulance, should return safely to the team – we are all by her side to make sure that happens. She probably suffered a mild concussion, which the medics had to start treating already on the field. Annabelle, we are waiting for you back, get well soon!
As for the game, we clearly grew above our opponent; they sat back to defend, and we tried to break them down. In the first half, we created a lot of chances, but unfortunately, we did not score as many as we should have. We took the lead, but then the opponent also had a dangerous chance – this is what we must strengthen in the future, because one goal is not enough to win. In one half we need to score at least three goals so that we can play our game more calmly. I hope we learned from this situation, and that next week we can play with a different attitude. We need to arrive better for the crosses, this is what we will practice next week, and I am sure that against Timișoara it will already be different.”
