We bid farewell to the Superliga season at home, as FK Csíkszereda will take the field in this lineup for the last time. Against FC Botoșani, the red and blacks aim to close the season with an attractive performance.

The key matters were decided two rounds ago, in the memorable match against FCSB, when the victory secured by Attila Csürös’ header in the 87th minute practically ensured the club’s place in the Superliga for the next season as well. This is a major achievement considering that, in the second half of the play-out standings, only Metaloglobus’ relegation has been mathematically confirmed, while everything else remains open: which team will be the second directly relegated side, which two teams will go to the play-off/relegation play-offs, and which team will stay in the top division without a play-off among Petrolul, Farul, Hermannstadt and Slobozia. The matches of the final round of the play-out – except for ours – will all be played at the same time, on Monday from 20:30.

As far as we are concerned, beyond a proper farewell, Saturday’s match may still carry stakes: if we win and the team from Galați loses away at Petrolul, we could move above them in the final standings and finish the season in tenth place. However, at the final pre-match press conference, the participants mostly reflected on the entire season.

Head coach Róbert Ilyés emphasized in his season evaluation: “At moments like this, when we have already achieved our success, it is good to look back and see what kind of work was done behind the scenes and what result we achieved. After promotion, we managed to reach our objective and remain in the first division, which is a huge source of pride. This is the result of the joint work of the staff, the players and the management, and a joy for the entire Szeklerland. At the same time, we can already see that the next season will be even more difficult.”

The coach also spoke separately about the staff and the community: “When I received this opportunity, I chose people around me whom I trusted both professionally and personally, and I was not disappointed in them. I am proud of them and I would like us to continue working together. We owe thanks to the supporters: they stood by us throughout the season, they showed us respect, and we tried to repay that with good results.”

Regarding Saturday’s match, the objective is clear: “There is no longer any pressure on us, but we very much want to say goodbye with a victory. If we achieve that, we could even move up one place in the standings. We discussed with the players that we should step onto the field with the same mentality as before, and in that case the crowd will reward the performance with applause.”

One of the heroes of the season, Attila Csürös, reflected on the past months: “It was a fluctuating season, with many beautiful moments and difficult periods. When it was hard, the dressing room became even more united, and we showed what we are capable of as a team. For me, it is an unforgettable season that I will always be proud of.”

He also referred to key moments: “My goals against Hermannstadt and FCSB will remain special memories. It is difficult to put into words what I felt at those moments, but the most important thing is that with those goals I could help the team to victory.”

The message for the final match is clear: “We have to approach it with determination, because the last impression remains with everyone. We want to play a match through which we can thank the supporters for their support throughout the entire season.”

Raul Palmeș also highlighted the importance of staying in the league: “It is a very nice feeling that we managed to stay in the first division, but it was much more difficult than the promotion season. We played against stronger opponents, the pressure was greater, but as a team we came together and achieved our goal.”

He spoke honestly about his own performance: “I did not start the season well, I made mistakes, but I consider myself a strong character and I managed to rebuild myself. By the end of the season, I managed to show the fighting spirit that has always characterized me.”

Regarding the closing match, he also set a clear goal: “We want to win, because this way we could give both the supporters and ourselves a nice ending. We want to see again in the last match the same fight that we showed throughout the season.”

The match kicks off on Saturday at 18:30 at the Municipal Stadium in Miercurea Ciuc and, as usual, will be broadcast by Digisport 1 and Prima Sport 1. Those who would like to say goodbye to this team in person will have the opportunity to do so, as a limited number of tickets will still be available on match day at the stadium ticket office, which opens at 17:00.
